Calculate Taxes from within Surefyre or Import Surefyre policy data into InsCipher

Overview

For Vertafore customers utilizing Surefyre to automate and streamline their workflows, this partner (Vertafore) owned integration connects a couple of InsCipher's key surplus lines tax solutions with Surefyre's configurable agent portal and underwriter workbench, including:

  • Tax Calculation: Retrieval of real-time surplus lines tax calculations within Surefyre. For example, adding data such as premium and line of business and retrieving correct tax rates for a policy in return. As a use-case, this could be utilized to display tax information to an underwriter during the quoting process or to include accurate tax line items on invoices and mid-term endorsements.
  • Automation of Transaction Imports: Automatic import of policy transactions from Surefyre into InsCipher. For bound transactions, this function eliminates the need for manual data entry and initiates the automation of the filing process, where transactions can be reviewed within the InsCipher platform after being imported from Surefyre.

Most customer configurations and needs are unique, so these functionalities can and usually do exist at different points within a customer's workflow.

Setup and Implementation

This integration and the functionalities mentioned above are not an out of the box product that InsCipher offers - rather, they are a set of configurable solutions built by Vertafore to be taken advantage of inside the Surefyre platform. Setup time and cost can vary widely from not only new and existing customers, but based on the level of complexity necessary for the customer need. For example, some customers need to create an agent portal and underwriting workbench with the ability for rating (retrieving tax rates), which can vary widely in scope and cost from a customer that wants to plug in one or both of the InsCipher functionalities mentioned above. That being said, below is a guideline to the basic process for set up for new and existing customers, as well as guidelines on cost:

  • Customer setup process: The setup is typically handled by Surefyre's professional services team during the implementation of a new system or as an addition for an existing client. The process involves utilizing Surefyre's remote call framework to map data fields from the customer's Surefyre instance to the required fields in InsCipher's API. From there, triggers are configured within the customer's workflow to determine when in the workflow the API calls are made (such as for retrieving surplus lines tax & fee rates when a quote is generated or a policy is bound). While the Surefyre platform is customer configurable, it is highly recommended to work alongside the Surefyre services team for this specific setup and configuration within the Surefyre transaction module - due to the integration affecting core financial data and transactions that must be accurate for bordereaux and reporting purposes.
  • Who to contact: Existing Surefyre customers who wish to add this integration should contact their dedicated Surefyre account manager. New clients interested in the platform and this functionality and those with any other specific questions around this integration should reach out to [email protected].
  • Cost and Timeline: This can vary significantly based on client need and current setup. Generally, however - customers setting up a new Surefyre system can expect 3 to 6 months or more depending on the complexity of the system build with an implementation fee as a part of the larger system setup. Existing customers can expect a turnaround of as fast as a few weeks depending on their configuration with an implementation fee likely applying as well.
